Language

After a 4-hour bus ride:

Me: I'm getting hungry.
Clare: Me too.

An hour later while waiting for Anna . . .

Me: I'm starving (I was feeling light headed and shaky).
Clare: Starving?
Me: Yep, starving. It means that I'm more than hungry--really hungry.
Clare: So, you are starving? You are really hungry?
Me: Yes! I'm not famished but I am starving!
Clare: Famished?
Me: Famished is more than starving--intense hunger.

Another hour passes. Anna arrives:
Clare: Anna, are you famished?
Anna: Clare, did you learn a new word today?

Burst of laughter.

Learning and sharing language is beautiful. Clare taught us a few more Korean words and we got to share a few new expressions in English.
