Spring. What a beautiful season. New life surrounds me. Beautiful Red Buds are in bloom, flowers in an array of colors are adoring the landscape of homes and parks, vibrant green leaves have burst from the branches that hold them, birds are singing their songs and keeping watch over their nest. This season is an amazing reminder of the new life that's in me and available to me.
As I think about the past year of our lives, it's amazing to consider all the transition and changes we've walked through. I have known great joy and grief, faith and doubt, provision and need, acceptance and loneliness. The connection in all those places of the heart is hope. Hope that God is faithful and good. Hope that what God says, He will do. Hope that He will never leave me, nor forsake me. Hope of spring and new life.
Outside our front door a mother Robin has built a nest. Whe we first discovered the nest, it was in the beginning stages of being formed. We moved the nest to another location thinking that it may not be good for a bird to be flying around the front door. This mother Robin was determined to have her nest between our outside light and stone wall and rebuilt her nest. The nest now holds 3 blueish eggs. She is carefully keeping watch over the life that's held in those eggs.
Soon life will break forth from those eggs and in a short time the tiny birds will take flight. It's my hope that the life of God in me will also spring forth in this season. I long to rise up with a song in my heart, embracing all that God has before me with gratefulness and abandonment.
